- Find BSN Programs

If you’re looking for a state with great Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or BSN, programs and warm weather, Florida is the place to be. The state has a high demand for nurses. There are currently 160,000 registered nurses (RNs) in Florida serving a population of twenty million people. Thirty percent of those nurses are over the age of 50, putting them within reach of retirement. With Florida’s population expected to grow by several million people in the next decade, this is a difficult situation. If you get a BSN degree in the sunshine state, you’ll have no problem finding a job.
Florida is not a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact. That makes it hard to work as a traveling nurse after you get a BSN degree there. On the plus side, you can look forward to an average salary of $72,000 as an RN in this state. You need either a BSN (4 years) or an associate degree in nursing (ADN) (2-3 years) to qualify as a nurse in Florida. Of these two options, BSN is the better decision in the long run.
After graduating from your BSN program, the last step to become a nurse is to pass the nationwide NCLEX-RN exam. There are many good resources available to help you prepare for the test. You’ll need to pay a $200 fee to take the exam.
The Best BSN Programs in Florida
When you’re looking for an accredited BSN program in Florida, you have around twenty schools to pick from. It’s a good idea to consider class size, clinical rotations, and the NCLEX-RN pass/fail rate when choosing your program.
