- Find BSN Programs

There is a lot of demand for nurses in New York. Whether you prefer the chaos of New York City or the peace and quiet of upstate New York, there’s a place for you in the granite state. It only takes four years to earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or BSN, degree here, like in other states. After you finish your studies, all you have to do is pass the NCLEX-RN exam to start working. If you choose an associate degree in nursing (ADN) rather than a BSN, this process only takes two years.
It’s a great idea to get a BSN degree, even if it takes a longer time. The National Academy of Medicine (NAM), formerly called the Institute of Medicine (IoM), advises that 80% of the nursing workforce should have BSN degrees by 2020. Your BSN degree will give you an advantage when competing with fellow graduates for the best jobs. This is particularly important if you hope to work in the competitive environment of NYC.
New York is not a member of the nursing licensure compact. As a result, it’s a hassle to work across state lines after you get a BSN in this state. Luckily, there’s so much going on in NYC and the rest of New York that you won’t ever want to leave.
The Best BSN Programs in New York
Choosing an accredited BSN program in New York is a big decision. You should consider what area of the state you want to live in, your budget, and your educational experience so far. When you research programs, pay close attention to their class sizes and NCLEX-RN pass/fail rates.
