Becoming a registered nurse (RN) in Maryland is an excellent idea. With a current state population of six million people, there’s a huge demand for qualified medical care professionals to fill jobs. The number of people aged 65+ is growing much faster than the rest of the population in Maryland. That’s a big deal because two-thirds of senior citizens have two or more chronic medical conditions. As that population grows, the demand for nurses will grow with it.
When you choose to become an RN in Maryland, or in any other state for that matter, you have two degrees to choose from. The fastest option is an associate degree in nursing (ADN), which takes two to three years to complete. However, RNs with ADNs earn much less money than RNs with Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or BSN, degrees, which take four years. RNs with BSN degrees earn an average of $71,100 per year in Maryland.
